The purpose of this agreement is to establish a clear understanding of the expectations of consultation. This group is designed for consultees working toward EMDRIA Certification who need to complete 20 hours of consultation, at least 10 of which must be individual. The following clarifies expectations, the structure of the group, what you can expect of me, and what is expected of you.

I am an EMDRIA Certified Therapist and am currently a Consultant in Training (CIT). As a CIT, I can provide a maximum of 15 hours of consultation to any one consultee working toward EMDRIA Certification. This means at least 5 of your consultation hours must come from a Consultant fully approved by EMDRIA. For this group, that role is filled by Joshua Adair, LCSW-S, ADS, who will join approximately 3 of our group sessions across the year as a guest consultant. All of Joshua's consultation hours with you will be accrued in the group setting; you will not need a separate individual arrangement with him to meet this part of the requirement. Please visit EMDRIA at www.emdria.org for further information on these requirements.

Group Structure

  • 12-month consultation group, 4 consultees.

  • Monthly group sessions: 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM ET, the 3rd Friday of the month, September 2026 through August 2027, except December, which meets on the 11th.

  • Each group session is 2.5 hours total: 120 minutes of case consultation and 30 minutes of live teaching (video demonstration, slides, and/or handouts).

  • Each consultee also receives 4 individual 60-minute consultation sessions across the year, scheduled with me separately.

Breakdown of 20 Hours Consultation Time

  • Each group session earns 30 minutes of individual consultation credit. Across 12 sessions, that is 6 individual hours.

  • The 4 individual sessions provide an additional 4 individual hours.

  • Group hours across the 12 sessions are expected to meet or exceed the 10 group hours required, satisfying the full 20-hour requirement between individual and group time.

I will document and track our time spent in consultation, including Joshua's group hours, and will retain this documentation for a five-year period from the date our work together concludes. As with individual consultation, I will write a letter of recommendation or written verification once you have demonstrated the skills and knowledge base for Certification. Joshua will also provide a letter of recommendation based on his observations of you in the group, which you will need for your EMDRIA Certification application. If the skills and knowledge have not yet been demonstrated, I can provide written documentation of time spent, skills acquired, and areas still needing improvement.

Hour credit is subject to EMDRIA's certification requirements and guidelines in effect at the time of your application.

Other EMDRIA Requirements

This group is designed to help you complete your 20 hours of consultation, but EMDRIA Certification also requires you to independently meet the following, which are your responsibility to track and complete outside of this group:

•     Conduct 50 clinical sessions using EMDR.

•     Complete 12 hours of EMDR-related continuing education.

Neither I nor Joshua track or verify these hours on your behalf. Please confirm current requirements directly with EMDRIA at www.emdria.org, as they are subject to change.

Attendance

The hour totals above are calculated exactly to meet the 20-hour requirement, attendance at all 12 group sessions and all 4 individual sessions is necessary for you to receive full credit through this group. A missed session may leave you short of hours that this group cannot retroactively make up. Please let me know as far in advance as possible if you anticipate missing a session so we can discuss options, which may include a makeup individual session at an additional fee, or documentation reflecting only the hours actually completed.

Consultants Role & Expectations:

  1. I require work samples of all 8 Phases and 3 Prongs of standard EMDR therapy, and evidence of correcting any concerns, prior to writing a recommendation letter for EMDRIA Certification.

  2. I will keep abreast of current trends and changes in EMDR and trauma treatment, and will provide the group with new information as long as it stays within the scope of my knowledge. I will refer you to other consultants if your needs are beyond my scope.

  3. Group sessions will be held on the schedule above; individual sessions will be scheduled as our schedules permit.

  4. I will make efforts to provide a safe and supportive learning environment, for both the group as a whole and each individual consultee. Any concerns about this, when shared with me, will be addressed with you in private.

Consultee's Role & Expectations

  1. Come prepared to present case material, complete with notes on that case, at your assigned group sessions and individual sessions.

  2. Maintain Confidentiality of the clients you are presenting on.

  3. Practice within the ethical guidelines of both your license and professional associations. EMDRIA states that if there is no professional association, the APA's code of ethics is the standard for all EMDRIA members. It is your responsibility to stay current on the laws and ethics applicable to you.

  4. Maintain the confidentiality of all client information and case material presented by other members of the group. Client information shared in the group should be de-identified whenever possible. I cannot guarantee confidentiality on behalf of other group members beyond their agreement to this same policy.

Fee & Payment

This group is a 12-month commitment. Regardless of which payment option you choose below, enrolling means you are committing to the full cost of the group for the year.

You may choose one of the following payment options:

  • Monthly: $200/month, for a total of $2,400. Invoiced on the 1st of each month and charged on the 7th.

  • Pay in full: $2,000, due at enrollment. Pay in full upfront and save the equivalent of two months.

  • Installments: 3 payments across the first 6 months, for a total of $2,200. Payments are due September 1 ($800), November 1 ($700), and January 1 ($700). Save the equivalent of one month by paying in installments rather than monthly.

Late Payments

Late Payment: Payments not resolved within ten days of the charge date are considered late and subject to a $30 late fee. If a payment remains unpaid for two consultation cycles, this is considered a breach of this agreement and may result in termination from the group under the Termination section above; the remaining balance owed for the year is still due.

Early Termination:

If you leave the group before completing the year, for any reason, the remaining balance for your chosen payment option becomes due immediately. This applies whether you are on the monthly plan (remaining months owed), the installment plan (remaining installment(s) owed), or paid in full (no refund is issued, as this reflects your commitment to the full group, not a pay-per-session fee).

Acknowledgement & Signature

By signing below, I acknowledge that I have read and understood this agreement, including that:

  • This is a 12-month commitment and that I am responsible for the full cost of the group for the year regardless of my chosen payment option or whether I complete the full year.

  • Joshua Adair, LCSW-S, ADS will serve as guest consultant for approximately 3 group sessions and that all of his consultation hours with me will be accrued in the group setting.

  • In addition to the 20 hours of consultation covered by this group, EMDRIA Certification requires 50 clinical sessions using EMDR and 12 hours of EMDR-related continuing education, and that I am responsible for tracking and completing these on my own.
